Low Back Pain Treatment

Overview

Get rid of your chronic back pain, get your life back, and get back into life! Medial branch nerve procedures (blocks and radiofrequency ablation) relieve low back pain by numbing and disrupting sensory nerves that transmit pain signals from damaged or arthritic spinal facet joints to the brain. The blocks act as a diagnostic tool to confirm the facet joint as the pain source.
Approach

Minimally invasive, in-office procedure

Guidance

Performed under fluoroscopy (x-ray)

Relief Duration

Months to years of significant relief

The Process

Medial Branch Nerve Blocks and Ablations

1

Minimally Invasive

Procedures done in-office under fluoroscopy (x-ray) guidance with minimal downtime, allowing patients to quickly return to daily activities.

2

Targeted Diagnostics (Medial Branch Blocks)

An Interventional Pain Specialist injects a local anesthetic near the nerves that supply the facet joints. Immediate, temporary relief confirms the facet joints are the source of pain.

3

Long-Term Relief (Radiofrequency Ablation)

If diagnostic blocks provide at least 80% improvement, radiofrequency ablation uses RF waves to heat and destroy specific nerve fibers, providing relief lasting months to years. Can be repeated if pain returns.

Illiolumbar Ligament Injections

1

Minimally Invasive

Procedures done in-office under fluoroscopy (x-ray) guidance with minimal downtime, allowing patients to quickly return to daily activities. There is an injections with steroid and local anesthetics to reduce pain and decrease inflammation. The benefits can last months to years. Can be repeated if pain returns after 3 months of at least 50% improvement

Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injections

1

Minimally Invasive

Procedures done in-office under fluoroscopy (x-ray) guidance with minimal downtime, allowing patients to quickly return to daily activities.

2

An Interventional Pain Specialist injects

A local anesthetic and steroid into the epidural space near the irritated nerves looking to decrease inflammation and provide pain relief. These can provide relief lasting months to years. Can be repeated if pain returns after at least 3 months of 50% improvement.

Sacroiliac Nerve Blocks and Ablations

Ischial Bursa Injections for Ischial Bursitis (Weaver's Bottom)

1

Minimally Invasive

Procedures done in-office under fluoroscopy (x-ray) guidance with minimal downtime, allowing patients to quickly return to daily activities.

2

Targeted injections by an Interventional Pain Specialist

An Interventional Pain Specialist injects using a local anesthetic and steroid at the ischial bursa. There is often relief lasting several months to years. Can be repeated if pain returns with at least 50% relief for 3 months.

Piriformis Injections

1

Minimally Invasive

Procedures done in-office under fluoroscopy (x-ray) guidance with minimal downtime, allowing patients to quickly return to daily activities.

2

Targeted injections by an Interventional Pain Specialist

An Interventional Pain Specialist injects using a local anesthetic and steroid at the piriformis muscle. There is often relief lasting several months to years. Can be repeated if pain returns with at least 50% relief for 3 months.
